We are excited to continue our new segment where we introduce and feature individual members of the March of the Living Australia Committee of Management and get to know them better.
This month, we are excited to meet Karen Katz!
A little bit about Karen..... My parents and grandparents were all born in Warsaw, Poland. My parents are both Holocaust survivors and migrated to Melbourne, Australia in the 1950s. I grew up in Melbourne and went to school at Mount Scopus College. I have a strong Jewish identity and feel very connected to my past. I work as a lawyer together with my partner and have 2 beautiful daughters both studying at university.
Why did you want to join the MOTL Committee of Management?
Having experienced MOTL myself, and my own desire for my children and their children to have the opportunity to educate themselves and learn about their Jewish family heritage, I wanted to make my contribution and get involved in the organisation.
What do you feel you can contribute to the organisation? I hope to use my skills and my passion for the program, and my own experience as a child of Holocaust survivors, to contribute to the growth and longevity of the organisation.
What excites you about MOTL?
In 2014 I participated in the MOTL program together with my parents. I feel very fortunate to have shared this incredible experience with my parents and hope that as many people as possible can become future participants on the program and learn about the Holocaust and their Jewish heritage, and keep the memories of those who perished alive.
