Meet the Committee of Management - Jeremy Goodman

We are excited to continue this segment where we introduce and feature individual members of the March of the Living Australia Committee of Management and get to know them better.

This month, we are excited to meet Jeremy Goodman!

A little bit about Jeremy..... I spent much of my childhood living in London. As an expat family we travelled regularly, and from an early age was able to visit Israel many times. Fast-forwarding to more recent times, I've spent most of my career in the travel industry working in both the hotel sector and now in the cruise industry. I'm fortunate to have travelled extensively for both personal and business purposes, and love nothing more than having Jewish colleagues, friends and families around the world to have Shabbat dinners with.

Why did you want to join the MOTL Committee of Management?

I've always been fascinated by the Holocaust. I remember being in Year 7 and being disappointed that we weren't going to learn about the Holocaust for another 2 years. I've not yet had the opportunity to visit Auschwitz or any other concentration camp, but certainly hope to as soon as I can. I have a passion for experiential education. Being, feeling, immersing is, in my opinion, the best way to really understand, and MOTL is an incredibly unique experience to be able to achieve that.

What do you feel you can contribute to the organisation? I want to be able to find ways to immerse both those from within and from outside of the Jewish community into the experience that MOTL provides. There are many (myself included) that haven't had the opportunity of experiencing such a moving event, but similarly there are many from both within and outside of the community that may not know the opportunity of this experience even exists. If being able to support the experience of MOTL for just 1 person can somehow change their life and the life of 1 other person, I will gain an immense sense of accomplishment.

What excites you about MOTL?

We live in troubled times where there is so much misinformation that unfortunately breads intolerance and hate. I don't feel that everyone 'wants' to be that way, but I do feel there is naivety that can be overcome by immersing the right people to experiences they otherwise would not be able to have without an organisation like MOTL.

What are you looking forward to most in 2022?

Being in the cruise industry, I'm most looking forward to the re-start of cruising in Australia as I see how it supports so many people in so many ways across so many industries. Beyond that, I'm looking forward to seeing how we as people can find more ways to come together and support each other whilst on the back-end of the pandemic. I think we've all learnt a lot about what is most important in our lives, and I hope this helps us to develop ourselves into being the best people we can be.

Thank you, Jeremy! We warmly invite you to learn more about each of our Committee of Management members by clicking on this link and scrolling down to the Member Bio section.
