Committee of Management
Alex Kats has become involved in MOTL Australia not because his grandparents were survivors, but because he believes that it is only through education that we will avoid making and repeating the mistakes of the past. To that end, he has dedicated much of his life to promoting equality and social justice, and working to create greater understanding.
In 2005, Alex was selected to participate in the Young Foreign Diplomatic Leadership Mission in Israel under the auspices of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2006, he participated in the Lauder Foundation Community Development Seminar in Belarus, and then in Germany in 2010. On both those trips he independently visited European concentration camps and war graves. In December 2011, Alex was selected to participate in the Young Professionals Services and Leadership Trip to India, and in 2016, he participated in the Joint Journey to Jerusalem under the auspices of the Jewish Christian Muslim Association. Following that, he joined the board of the Council of Christians and Jews (Vic), which aims to create mutual understanding, and is now its chair. He is also a mentor with the Young Achievers Program at Jewish Care, a member of the Regional Advisory Council of the Victorian Multicultural Commission, a member of the Port Phillip Multi-faith Network, and a member of the JCCV First Nations Committee.
